"After their previous feature on "Neverending Sunrise," French producer Mike Haunted (Mike Vignacq) returns to our pages with "1983," the lead single from his forthcoming instrumental EP — and it is an absolute time-capsule delight.
Built without a single lyric to lean on, this purely instrumental cut earns every second of its 3:45 runtime through sheer sonic imagination: it opens with floating, rhythmic textures and a hypnotic vocal gimmick that lodges itself deep in your memory, then erupts into an intergalactic mid-section of layered melodies and interlocking arpeggiated synthesizers that feel genuinely weightless.
The landing back on Earth — funky, colourful, and brimming with dancefloor energy — is the kind of joyful payoff that reminds you why the early 80s still cast such a long, golden shadow. Released via iM Electronica, "1983" is retro-modern synthwave at its most effortlessly inventive. Hit play on Spotify and let it launch you straight into orbit."
