"'Blackstar' is the third single from Model Depose, the top quality musical production shines in its elegance and beautifully arranged synth and guitar parts, the song is excellent in telling its story with a wonderful misterious feeling of going on a trip through a deep landscape of drama; The heartfelt vocals also shine with strong emotion that elevate the overall perception of the song to a serious & dark thrilleresque atmosphere, also the music video reflects perfectly the narrative the song expresses, you should be following Model Depose they guarantee great immersion."

INSIDE THE TRACK: [artist's commentary]
EARLY 2016 WE WERE INVITED TO PLAY A DAVID BOWIE SONG FOR THE DAVID BOWIE EXHIBITION IN THE GRONINGEN MUSEUM. JUST AFTER HE DIED, HIS ALBUM AND SONG BLACKSTAR WAS RELEASED. SOMEHOW THE TITLE MADE IT INTO A JAMSESSION, AND WE DECIDED TO NAME THE SESSION BLACKSTAR.
The song took more shape, inspired by the refugee crisis, a story was born of someone who leaves behind everything that he/she holds dear, uncertain what life has to offer moving on. We found that the Blackstar became a symbol for that process.

Song technique-wise, we experimented playing around the ground note as much as possible, allowing a minimal kind of build up. Vocally this track is offering Roeland’s softest lines yet to date, which was also very fresh, just like the vocals synth harmonies in the build up.
